Journaling Prompts: Taking Action When You Feel Stuck
A few journaling prompts to help you better understand your resistance, where your self-limiting beliefs come from, and how to work through them so that you can take action toward your goals.
Simply put, taking action is the only way to get what you want. This doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to get it, but that you’re far more likely to move closer to it if you take the necessary and uncomfortable action. The key is to recognize where your resistance lies and question its intentions. If you know that your resistance is rooted in the avoidance of discomfort, then it’s important to hold yourself accountable by accepting the fear and doing it anyway.
While you might feel stuck, you might also need to take one step forward to gain enough momentum to feel confident on your path. Sometimes, action is the best remedy to fear and insecurity—it’s your responsibility to yourself to push through the resistance so that you can meet your full potential. Anything less will only leave you feeling regretful and, inevitably, resentful toward yourself.
Below are a few journaling prompts to help you better understand your resistance so that you can start taking some action, even if small:
What’s the main thought or belief triggering the resistance toward taking action? What do you believe is the worst thing that would happen if you take action?
Do you see yourself as someone who can sustain the kind of life you’re currently desiring? If not, who would you have to become to do so?
What’s safe about never getting what you truly want? Why does living in a constant state of yearning feel more comfortable than having?
