Journaling Prompts: Intuition
A compilation of prompts and questions to help you through your journaling practice.
I often talk about the benefits of journaling and how I do it myself fairly often. While I don’t typically use prompts, I do think having general questions in mind when sitting down to journal can be beneficial to the process if you find yourself struggling with it. I’ve compiled a few questions that I’ve had to ask myself about my intuition throughout the years, so I hope they can be just as helpful for you!
Let me know your thoughts in the comments :)
Do you feel like you can trust yourself to make a decision that is aligned with your desires and not with your fears?
Has there been a time in the past when you noticed your intuition speaking to you but you overrode it? What did it feel like to override it? What were the consequences that you experienced?
If you could create a character description for your intuition, what would it be? What version of you does your intuition represent? Whether you are that version of yourself (yet) or not, get clear on how the intuitive part of you speaks, looks, acts, etc.
What is your initial response to an intuitive nudge? What argument against your intuition does your “logical” mind produce? What fear is triggered in response to your intuition? This will vary depending on the specific question or desire that is invoking your intuition.
What are other aspects of your life where you allow yourself to be guided by your intuition? How does it feel to do so?
What’s one small way that you can begin to practice intuition? (i.e. intuitive eating, intuitive creativity, intuitive excursions, etc.)
What is your intuition trying to tell you about who you are and why are you scared to face that truth?
Overthinking can often be mistaken for intuition, leading you away from your most aligned path. If you struggle to understand if you’re overthinking or if it’s your intuition, ask yourself if the answer you’re receiving is rooted in love or fear. Deep love for yourself might not always mean you make decisions that prevent you from feeling scared or uncomfortable such as your fear would. If the answer you’ve received is telling you to do something that might make you challenge certain narratives or beliefs but is aligned with the kind of person you want to be, then that’s probably your intuition.
If your intuition is rooted in love and your fear is rooted in fear, then what loving acts or thoughts are you preventing yourself from experiencing whenever you ignore your intuition? What is the fear protecting you from?
In what moments do you notice yourself most experiencing an intuitive nudge? What does that tell you about your deepest desires?
Do you allow yourself to experience pleasure? If not, do you believe you can only experience pleasure when you’ve achieved something? This can cloud intuition because pleasure is an important component of the experience.
